Fiery Flamenco will dance the Prague out!
Amazing Angel Rojas and Carlos Rodriguez with their ensemble, Nuevo Ballet Español will return to Prague with a new flamenco show CAMBIO DE TERCIO.
Flamenco is a dance full of emotion and silence, dance of sadness and contemplation, dance of madness and anger, love and passion. Sensuality and mystery flowing throughout the body, the magic power and strength of expression, based on the emotions coming out of the dancers soul, flowing skirts of dancers in the color of fire, moving into the extraordinary rhythm and sound of Spanish guitar ...
All this reflects a dance show CAMBIO DE TERCIO, the phenomenon of Spanish culture and the latest work of two fantastic artists Angel Rojas and Carlos Rodriguez, who with their ensemble, Nuevo Ballet Español will dance out the Czech audience on the 21st April 2010 in Prague Theater Hybernia.
Angel Rojas and Carlos Rodriguez, founders and artistic directors of the file danced from the early childhood. Later they were members of several professional dance groups and in 1994 participated in the national dance competition and were rewarded for the best dance project "Elegia and Ramon Stige".
Two years later created the Nuevo Ballet Español, an ensemble that combine modern dance with a traditional flamenco. At the beginning they planned to innovate flamenco greatly, but their respect to this beautiful classic dance prevented them form doing that.
Good reaction and positive acclaim of both audience and critics encouraged them to develop other projects. One of them was “Sangre Flamenca” which was presented in Prague last year and had a great success. Now the aces of Flamenco are coming to Prague with a brand new programme CAMBIO DE TERCIO.
CAMBIO DE TERCIO is composed out of ten scenic parts of various length, several dance styles based on a classical Spanish flamenco and beautiful costumes, which all together makes the performance even more exciting.
Rojas and Rodriguez consider CAMBIO DE TERCIO to be their best project. “ It’s our best project. To achieve a perfect interplay we use professional wireless devices, so musicians can communicate with dancers throughout the show. There will be plenty of dynamism and movement on the stage” – reveals Carlos Rodriguez. One of the main innovative aspects of this project is the active participation of musicians on the stage. Except Spanish guitars we can expect flute, violin and percussion that all together create a modern, fresh, dynamic sound. Visual effects in performance are guaranteed by careful selection of costumes and lighting, designed exclusively for this occasion. The show lights designed by David Perez and Gustavo García allow the viewer to fully appreciate the art of Spanish dance in a wide spectrum.
You can expect excellent choreography, exciting dance numbers full of sensuality and strength. Viewers are drawn into a totally unique choreographic design of classical flamenco of Rojas and Rodriguez, who manage to conquer the hearts of audience not only in their native Spain but people all over the world.
CAMBIO DE TERCIO on the only performance in Czech Republic will introduce different styles of flamenco, classical and modern Spanish dances, which are regulated and diversify by the technique and artistic style of Rojas and Rodriguez. That incredible style of Nuevo Ballet Español made it one of the best Spanish dancing ensembles of the world.

Selected dances:
Bulerías - is a very widespread and popular dance style of flamenco. It has a lively and playful nature, with Gypsy elements. There is often room for improvisation for a singer and dancer as well. It is a dance fiesta, with a 12-tact bar, very modern, popular and challenging for the beginners. It requires except a precise zapateado technique also a feeling for form and expression.
Tangos – easy to confuse him with the well-known social dances from the group of Latin American dances. It is an impressive dance. It’s rhythm comes from the south America or Africa. Rhythm is stable and is counted at 2, 4 or 8 times. Its structure is looser. It is a lower dance and can tolerate quiet a high dose of improvisation, but again, like all dances must be held in a rhythmic compass and character of the dance.
Zapateado - stamping or hammering heels. In the past hands were more in use and mostly men danced it. History of stamping began probably in the sixteenth century, when zapateado was a classical Spanish dance. It started to penetrate flamenco in the mid-nineteenth century. According to historical sources for the first time this dance was presented by the dancer from Cadiz and it’s best performers were Romans. First Flamenco was danced without guitars, accompanied only by clapping.
Jaleos - the rhythmic accompaniment, mainly in the form of clapping (palmas). It is an integral part of a function which is an "encouraging the artist” (guitarist, singer, dancer) by a typical exclamations like olé!, Arsa!, Anda! Vamos! etc..
