Dianne Reeves  is considered one of the most important contemporary jazz singers. She was born in Detroit to a very musical family. Her father, who died when she was two years old, was also a singer. Her mother, Vada Swanson, played trumpet. As a child the singer took piano lessons and sang at every opportunity. Dianne discovered a love of music and that she wanted to be a singer.
Her uncle, Charles Burell, a bass player with the Denver Symphony Orchestra, introduced her to the music of jazz singers, from Ella Fitzgerald to Billie Holiday. She was especially impressed by Sarah Vaughan.

She began experimenting with different kinds of vocal music and finally decided to pursue a career as a singer. She made her name in the late 80's, when she was discovered by Blue Note Records during a worldwide revival of interest in jazz. Reeves sang at the closing ceremony of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. She has to date won 4 Grammy Awards for „Best Jazz Vocal Performance“ for her albums: „In the Moment“ (2001), „The Calling: Celebrating Sarah Vaughan“ (2002), „A Little Moonlight“ (2003). „Good Night, and Good Luck“ (2006). Reeves is the only singer to have won this Grammy for three consecutive recordings.

In Prague, Dianne Reeves will be accompanied by musicians Russello Malone and Romero Lubambo. Jazz fans may look forward to unforgettable experience. Her concerts are said to be perfectly prepared, they surprise audience with high quality, Dianne’s performances are full of energy and emotions.
