Outstanding instrumentation and harmony of sound
Legendary Electric Light Orchestra is coming back on a stage in great, unique style and what is more to the accompaniment of Czech National Symphonic Orchestra!
Electric Light Orchestra is an iconic British rock band, which has achieved the biggest popularity in 70-s and 80-s XX century. The band was formed on the beggining of 70-s in Birmingham by members of a group The Move: Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood and Bev Bevan. Their motivation was to create something completely new. At this time all bands were playing on rock instruments, sometimes also on brass instruments, but the idea of using also strings and piano – seemed to be fresh and unusual! In 70-s, recording studios were full of wild music experiments, what helped Roy Wood to take advantage of his multiinstrumentalist abilities. On the four songs of the first ELO’s album, Wood was playing all the instruments: brass or strings in his own.
Electric Light Orchestra is an experimental rock and symphonic orchestra. Unconventionalism of ELO was based on the combination of untypical instruments. In addition to rock instrumentation, musicians started to use also classic stringed instruments (cello, violin), oboe, clarinet, piano and some folk instruments. The music of ELO is qualified as classical and progressive rock. Their works mix the Beatles pop, a symphonic rock and classical music. Additional specific element was characteristic voice of ELO’s original vocalist, Jeff Lynne: high, clear and brassy.
Any other band before ELO didn’t achieve such a perfect connection of classical music and rock. The biggest advantage of ELO is an outstanding instrumentation and harmony of sound, and also diversity of their music. The band has recorded 12 studio albums, got 9 gold, platinum and multiplatinum records.
In November, you will have an unrepeatable occasion to listen alive in Prague the biggest hits of ELO: Can't Get It Out of My Head, Rock'n'roll Is King, Hold On Tight, Here is the news or cover of popular Chuck Berry's Roll Over Beethoven. Besides „old acquaintances“ – musicians from original band personnel: the violonist Mike Kaminski, bass player Kelly Groucutt and conductor Louis Clark will perform also another outstanding musicians with a shorter experience in ELO: guitarist Phil Bates, percussionist Gordon Townsend and talented vocalist and composer Eric Troyer.
All to the accompaniment of irreplaceable Czech National Symphonic Orchestra!
