And it doesn’t surprise. Prague ballet admirers know the great quality of the troupe, whose head is Viktor Smirnov-Golovanov, the founder and artistic director. Smirnov-Golovanov is a merited artist of Ukrain. He studied on a prestigious Moscow State Academy of Choreography, where his teachers were the greatest masters of russian ballet: Lavroski, Goleyzovski, Balanchivadze. For almost 20 years he was a leader of Opera and Ballet Theater of Odessa. All the experience and a lot of own choreagraphic visions pushed him into creation of his own ballet troupe – Moscow City Ballet. For twenty years of the troupe existance Golovanov proves, that idea of bringing fresh breeze of originality and modernity, with all the respect for classical ballet, was genious. He is known as a great teacher and master in finding new talents. Thanks to him Yekaterina Salimova, Tatyana Krasnova, Mihail Mihaylov, Talgat Kozhabayev and others became famous. Golovanov created a unique and unrivalled troupe, which is appreciated not only in Czeck Republic. Since the foundation they visited Egipt, Estonia, Ciprus, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Ireland, Japan, China, Philipins, USA, Great Britain and many more. The troupe is known as the most often perfoming ballet troupe in the world. It consists of more than 50 dancers, who come from the best ballet schools of Russia and Ukrain. The success of the troupe is a result of hundreds of hours of rehearsals and exhausting practices, which make bodies be able to perform such a perfect choreography. In a cold winter weather Moscow City Ballet will fascinate us with their two ballet masterpieces: Swan Lake and Nutcracker.

Nutcracker

In a little town guests gather for Christmas holdays. Children can’t wait untill they can see the Christmas tree and their presents. The moment comes and everybody sees a beautiful decorated tree. Under it little Klara finds a present from her uncle – joyful toy nutcracker, which easily cracks nuts. Uncle appears unrecognized in a wizard mask. Klara and her brother Fritz are delighted with his games and that he can make their toys come alive. Fritz is very naughty and by accident he breaks Klara’s nutcracker. But uncle can fix him easily. The evening is over and all guests leave. Klara gently soothes her broken friend and goes to bed. Maybe she’s gonna dream about Mouse King, a prince and a princess she saw in a puppet theatre. Night. Klara is sleeping in her bed with her favourite toy – nutcracker. She is seeing a wonderful dream. Her god father is a real wizard telling a wonderful story Dream land, where her nutcracker becomes alive and becomes a hero fighting with the whole army of mice, conquer the Mouse King and becomes a handsome prince. Together they go on a wonderful and magical travel..... Klara and prince Nutcracker finds themselves in a fairyland where they are greeted by guests from all over the world. Everybody is celebrating and dancing. But... that was just a magical dream. The night is over and night dreams are gone with it. Klara wakes up by the christmas tree with Nutcracker in her arms....

Swan Lake

 This is a story about princess Odette, who was changed into a swan by the evil wizard von Rothbart, and prince Siegfried , who is in love with Odette and promised her to love and free her. His love could break the curse, so von Rothbart tries to prevent their feelings. He comes to the prince’s birthday with his daughter Odile, whom he has change to look like Odette. Prince doesn’t notice an exchange and promises her an eternal love. It all starts with prince Siegfried‘s 18th birthday. As a present he gets a crossbow. His mother remind him although that it’s time to get married. So the ball is to be prepared where prince Siegfried can choose his future wife. After birthday celebrations prince and his friends are going to hunting. Prince is hunting by the lake when swans come. One changes into a beautiful girl. Evil wizzard von Rothbart changed her and her friend into swans to revenge her mother. Only a real love can destroy the magic and save Odette. Prince promises her an eternal love. During the ball in the castle appears an unknown foreigner with his daughter Odille who looks just like Odette. Prince not aware promises an eternal love to Odille that time. Von Rothbart feels satisfacted and safe. Prince breaks Odette’s heart. When Siegfried find out his mistake runs to the lake to Odette. She forgives him. But von Rothbart comes and the fight starts. While they are fighting von Rothbart pushs Odette into the rough lake. Desperate prince jump after her proving his fidelity. Moscow City Ballet is back to enchant Prague. This year twice.
